I just finished up an 8 session Mindfulness in the Park series and found one thing that I was missing which is meeting with groups of others. Now we did it in a safe way following all the guidelines and it felt great! It felt so great we are starting another set of classes Tuesday, Sept 8 ending Oct 1. We will explore various aspects of meditation and a meditative life including: non-judgement, letting go, non-striving, equanimity just to name a few. We are a small like minded group of people and we would be please to make room for a few more people. I hope you check out series and if it fits your needs join us just go to my homepage and you can get more details.

I am pleased to share day 1 of my 21 day to Mindful Meditation. I hope you enjoy. You can find them as I publish them on YOUTUBE just search for Debra Romberger and enjoy!

Setting my table for tea.

There is an old story of how the Buddha on the night before his enlightenment he was visited by everything evil including the Demon Mara and though the Buddha defeated Mara "she" still continued to visit him from time to time. When Mara would visit instead of shutting the door on her he set out a cushion and invited her to tea as an honored guest. I think in these divisive times a bit of tea might be just what we all need to offer one another.

That being said, more often than not when I invite my own Mara to tea there isn't anyone in the room but me. It seems that the things that to trip me up of late are all residing in me. For instance this morning I was posting my new Fall Mindfulness class on Eventbrite, and how should I say it technology is my Mara. I do not provide myself the same support and grace I would a friend unless I set a place at my table for Mara. I suppose we all have our own Mara and the trick seems to be able to identify her, take a deep breath and with a smile lay out a cushion and pour some tea.

What gifts have you discovered?

During this time of pandemic I wonder what it is that you have discovered about yourself? I have rediscovered my love of painting. I had not picked up a paintbrush since I was maybe 17 but right before the virus started I took a watercolor class with a friend - and I loved it. We have all lost so much during these last few months family, friends, income, just our daily life and it is my hope that along with the losses you have found a few gifts along the way too. May you and yours be happy, well, and may you be filled with loving kindness. Blessings
